Division BMX Demonstration

One thing I have to say about Student Life on campus after my being here for two years is that they constantly surprise you with the events they work hard to plan and how they get people to attend.  You can imagine my surprise when I saw a couple guys on bikes riding through the café during lunch yesterday.  I watched them, questioning like everyone else who had stopped their conversations and stuffing their faces with food and gazed as these guys rode through the café beckoning us to come outside and watch them ride the ramps that were set up in the madden center parking lot.

Well, like everyone else who instantly became interested in what these guys were talking about, I ventured outside to see what was up.  From the beginning of the show, I was mesmerized!  The stunts and tricks they pulled had the crowd, which was steadily growing larger, shocked and amazed.  The riders reached up to 25 feet of the highest ramp and performed tricks such as no handers, 360s, backflips, and boomerangs. This event left everyone wanting more!

D&E Foam Dance Party!

With the first week of classes finally completed, who doesn’t want to celebrate with a foam dance party!?!  That’s exactly what we students of Davis & Elkins College were thinking Friday night as we headed down to the Chapel Plaza to dance the night and week away.

Centered in the middle of the plaza, a blown up dance floor was lit up by disco club LED lights while popular pop and R&B music shuffled by the DJ could be heard all across campus.  This was certainly the center of attention as students from all ends of campus grabbed their friends and headed down.  With a dance floor, lights, and music…time to add the foam!! But not just a little, over 3 feet of foam covered the floor and was constantly being dispensed by the foam machines.  All night long, the dance floor was packed with people having a blast!

Good way to end the first week of classes?  Why ask when the answer is so obvious.
